Bryan is a graphic designer & illustrator, with a primary focus on merchandise, print & brand identity

Micah Barrett is a graphic designer working in Providence Rhode Island, constantly examining the meeting place of printed matter, digital distribution and physical space. Micah’s design practice consists of posters, websites, motion graphics and other manifestations of visual identities.

A recent interest in type design has lead to a dream of designing a typeface that will one day be used on NFL jerseys (preferably the Seattle Seahawks).

Markus Berger

Markus Berger is an Assistant Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Interior Architecture at RISD. Prior to coming to the US he practiced as an artist and architect, taught in Austria, India, Pakistan and worked with UN Studio in the Netherlands. He co-founded and co-edits Int|AR, the journal on Interventions and Adaptive Reuse, and currently also heads his own design firm in Providence, InsideOut Design.

Lucinda Hitchcock

Lucinda Hitchcock is a Professor at RISD, a book designer, a graphic designer, and is currently investigating ways in which traditional graphic design principles and forms can be made to deviate off the 2-d surface and into the realm of environmental design, memorial design, public/ landscape art, and spatial narrative.

Sarah Bostwick

Sarah Bostwick is a front-end developer and relief sculptor hiding out in Roswell, New Mexico for the year with her artist husband Jon-Paul Villegas. She graduated from RISD with a BA in Printmaking in 2001 and has since pursued a career in casting and carving minimalist objects.

In 2010 she opened a small design firm, Plant Projects, with Jon-Paul Villegas who is also a sculptor and graphic designer. The daughter of an architect and avid builder, Sarah enjoys working with talented designers to build out websites in WordPress, writing javascript and PHP, and problem solving in general. Her latest development work includes the website for Artsource Consulting and the thumbnail gallery WordPress plugin developed for this site, which she hopes to offer on the WordPress plugins page some day.

Benjamin ShaykinÂ is a Providence-based designer and educator, specializing in book design and other printed matter. He received his MFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 2011, and his BA in Studio Art & Art History from Oberlin College in 1995.

Since 2004, he has maintained his own freelance practice, working primarily with publishers, museums, and arts organizations. His work has been featured in the New Yorker, and recognized by the Type Director’s Club, AIGA’s Best of New England (BoNE) Show, Print’s Regional Design Annual, Communication Arts, Readerville’s Most Coveted Covers, and the Society of Publication Designers.

Previously, he was a designer and art director at bothÂ Chronicle BooksÂ andÂ Mother JonesÂ magazine. From 1995â€“2001, he was the founding creative director of the independent magazineÂ Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture.

He is a critic at RISD, teaching courses in typography and graphic design.

Sarah Rainwater

Sarah Rainwater is the Founder and Creative Director Sarah Rainwater Design, an award-winning branding and graphic design agency in Providence, Rhode Island. From a logo or website to a multi-platform campaign, she combines identity, environmental design, print, interactive, and animation to create work that is exciting, engaging, and cohesive across diverse media. Her clients include educational and cultural institutions and innovative companies, startups, nonprofits, and individuals.

Before founding the company, Sarah was a designer and art director in New York and Los Angeles where she worked on projects for the Guggenheim Museum, Sony, Four Seasons, Paramount Pictures, Time Warner, Reebok, and Honda among many others. Her background in fine art and extensive experience gives her a deep understanding of art, technology, and design that makes her perspective distinct yet accessible.

Elaine Dunlap

Elaine’s design practice centers on the practical needs and expressive potential of people. She helps clients in business, education and the arts to create experiences that are uplifted and useful.

Before focusing on a full time design practice, Elaine was a research coordinator in the Memory and Aging Program at Butler Hospital. She holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Currently a UX designer for Say Media.

Adam Lucas

Adam Lucas is in his third and final year in the MFA Graphic Design program at Rhode Island School of Design. Prior to RISD, he attended Kenyon College where he studied English and Art and played lacrosse. He spent a couple of years after Kenyon in and around Portland, Oregon, staring at giant sturgeon, eating baked yams, and playing jazz music in a rock and roll fashion. He now finds himself wrapped up in a warm down comforter of language, but he still misses the cold blast of gnar to the face.

Jori Ketten

Jori is a founder of 186 Carpenter, a storefront and office space that presents arts programming and current events. She also directs the Media Lab at Community MusicWorks, helps young people reflect on their learning through photography and video projects, co-coordinates Providence Provision and the Providence HONK Festival and started workersâ€™ rights site JoeyQuits.com. When sheâ€™s not doing any of these things, Jori can be found making prints on a letterpress or playing bass drum in the What Cheer? Brigade, a 19-piece brass/punk band.

John Caserta

John Caserta is a Providence-based designer and educator. He is an Associate Professor in the Graphic Design Department at The Rhode Island School of Design. He founded and directs The Design Office, a collective that supports local independent designers by providing workspace, equipment, and community while initiating collaborative projects and products. He received an MFA from Yale University in 2004 and a BA in Journalism from The University of North Carolina in 1995.

He lives in Pawtucket, R.I. with his wife Sarah, daughters Lucia & Ayla and dog, Ray.
