China), ex-IDEOer, temporary Angeleno, bicycle framebuilder (hobbyist), newly minted east sider Sam Potts will describe how a nonlinear career path yields a necessarily adaptive and inclusive approach to design work and how you have to have cooks in the kitchen (or else it’s not a kitchen).
Sam has taught graphic design at SVA, Cooper Union, and Art Center. From 2002–2009, he operated Sam Potts Inc. in New York City. Clients in those days included The New York Times, They Might Be Giants, Jon Scieska, IFC, and a superhero supply store somewhere in Brooklyn. He is currently associate director of web content in the Media Group at RISD.
