1. What if I want to print something out? To print at the Office, you’ll need to be at least an affiliate member. The once-a-year fee covers time with one of the members to get set up with the proper printer profiles, etc.
2. What does negotiable mean under part-time memberships? Part-time memberships usually form around a specific schedule or need. For example, professors who need one day a week to hold office hours or to prepare for a class. Or, parents who know they have one or two days a week to work outside the home. In these cases, a fee is assessed based on time and equipment needs.
3. Who covers printing paper and staples and paper towels? A detailed list of what is covered is available, but in short, the common everyday items are covered by the Office, and specialty items are not. For example, all of the items listed in the question are covered by the Office.
4. May I hold events or large gatherings at the Office? It’s all case-by-case. Meetings in the conference room can comfortably seat up to 8, with 10-12 being fine for shortish situations. The large space can handle twice that provided the space is cleared with full-time members in advance.
5. What is the volunteer commitment? Full-time members commit to putting up to three hours per month toward the mission of the Office. Often, this means preparing for an event, taking out recycling, painting bookshelves, sourcing new equipment or updating the website.
